Customer of the MonthDecember

Janice Grassini

We are happy to announce Janice Grassini is our final Athlete of the Month of 2022. Most of you know and have taken class with Janice over the last 10 years. Yes that’s right. Janice has been a gym member here for the last decade and consistency really is critical to longevity. She has been at nearly every gym event as well be it the Open, beach wods, park wods, charity events or getting together with other members outside the gym. I have coached her since 2016 and have witness growth throughout her fitness journey. Whether it’s weightlifting or pull-ups or understanding the machines more, Janice is so receptive to coaching and works hard. I know she wrote it in her Q&A but double unders are the next thing to master for her. It’s been a struggle movement decpite the practice she’s put in. But practice has been there! Keep your focus and those reps will come together.
Thanks for your daily hard work.

Q&A
What’s your background? (Athletic)

Prior to training here, I used to be more of a runner. I also did Cardio Kickboxing when I first moved to Long Beach.

How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing functional fitness?
I have been a member since 2013.

What is your favorite thing about the gym?
One of my favorite things about the gym is the people! Everybody is so supportive and you always find smiling faces to get you through siked for the workout!

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome since joining the gym?
I think my biggest challenge has been not to get so frustrated when I can get certain movements. It is okay not to be the fastest or the strongest but to just focus on working hard on being better than the day before.

What is your favorite moment at the gym so far?
There are so many favorite moments, I would say when there are events, such as barbells for boobs, the Opens when everyone is together and the classes are together and you get to see everyone.

What is your favorite “cheat” food?
My favorite cheat food is Lobster Raviolis!

What would you say to someone who is thinking about starting?
I would tell someone who is thinking about starting the gym to just jump in! It may seem intimidating at first but I promise you that you will love it!!

What drives you?
What drives me is knowing how I feel after a workout! It helps me physically and mentally get through my weeks. It is a great outlet. The comradery of the gym also drives me to do better. I think losing a lot of that during COVID makes you realize how important the gym was for all of our mental health.

What is your biggest fitness goal right now?
My biggest fitness goal is to lose a little around my middle LOL.  And one day I will get double unders.
